Customer Story: Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center

Ewave has implemented a “digital hospital” project at Israel’s second-largest medical center, which included the addition of online services and medical information for all patients

The Challenge

The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (TASMC) is Israel’s second largest hospital. It serves the population of Tel Aviv metropolis which includes 415,000 Tel Aviv residents as well as over one million people who enter Tel Aviv daily for work, business and pleasure. TASMC occupies an area of over 250,000 square meters and is structured in four hospitals: the Ichilov general hospital; the Ida Sourasky Rehabilitation Center, the Liss Maternity Hospital, and the Dana Dwek Children’s Hospital. In total, TASMC has 1,000 hospitalization beds, some 60 departments and institutes and approx. 150 outpatient clinics.

The Medical Center sought to launch new apps and websites that would serve the patients, the medical staff, the researchers and the donors, and help position TASMC in the forefront of digital transformation, locally and globally. The new websites were meant to offer existing and prospective patients the best possible service as well as to provide a true educational alternative for the occasional user who searches for high quality healthcare information on the web.

The Solution

TASMC chose Ewave to execute the project following another successful project Ewave had implemented at the Medical Center a few years earlier. That project had involved building the home website of TASMC, which was developed on .NET platform, using Ewave’s software infrastructure for healthcare computing.

The new project included a comprehensive overhaul and upgrading of the website, which targets different audiences in three languages (Hebrew, English and Russian). The website provides information on the work of TASMC’s departments and units, articles, videos, extensive search capabilities, and more. In addition, it offers information for researchers and students and for the medical staff, including capability for searching specific personnel. Information to donors is served against impressive visual design. The website further offers visitors to register to the social networks of the Medical Center, to comment and to share the articles posted on the website.

Ewave has also developed additional websites for the respective hospitals and loyalty clubs of the Medical Center. These websites contain professional content and marketing information (such as tips for healthier life style, interviews with physicians, various offers and benefits, and more). The personalized self-service website allows patients to schedule their visits, get test results, write to TASMC’s physicians, register to receive newsletters, and more. The project includes setting up interfaces to TASMC’s CRM (Customer Relation Management) system and other operational systems.

Concurrently, Ewave has developed one hybrid, fully-responsive mobile app, which covers the entire information and operations of TASMC. In order to facilitate digital customer service, Ewave has also implemented BumpYard, an omnichannel customer service system, and Pulseem, a mailing solution that helps the Medical Center manage its professional and marketing newsletters.

The Results

TASMC currently offers online services and user experience of the highest level to its patients.
